A further growth period ensued and by the end of 2004, when locally developed technology did not meet Bosun Brick’s requirements, the company decided to look overseas. The Hess Group’s block-making machines were ideal in that they were highly efficient, and the installation of one of these plants could take place very quickly (it took less than 2 weeks to install the Hess block-making plant at Bosun’s premises in Midrand in 2005).

When the relationship between Bosun Brick and the Hess Group proved to be especially successful, the owners of the two businesses decided to form a partnership which would allow them to extend their respective expertise to existing or prospective concrete paving product manufacturers, based on a franchise/licensee model. Bosun Licence Holdings came into being.

A Bosun Brick licence provides the owners of their new business with:
